Rick Zurz and Jim Slater
Attorneys: We’re Accepting Referrals to Enhance Your Practice
We’ll serve as counsel or co-counsel in catastrophic injury and complex cases to help you and your clients come out on top.
Slater & Zurz LLP is an established mid-sized law firm with the experience and resources to handle complex, highly contested cases and the flexibility to accommodate each client’s individual needs and objectives. Laser-focused, meticulously prepared, tenacious and as aggressive as necessary to win, we can usually reach favorable settlements before our clients ever enter a courtroom. We have a demonstrated track record of success based on our cutting-edge legal strategies, crafted to serve the unique interests of every client we represent.
Our proven ability to settle most cases in our clients’ favor starts with our trial preparation, which begins on day one. If any adversary refuses to treat our clients in a fair and reasonable manner, we’ll be ready to go to court. Our overriding goal is to score a win for every client we represent, and we’ll pull out all the stops in pursuit of that goal.
We’ll collaborate with you.
We invite inquiries from attorneys whose clients’ cases demand substantial experience in a particular area of law and/or the considerable resources that may not be available to a smaller firm or solo practitioner. When it comes to the terms of a referral or co-counsel relationship, we’re flexible. We’re willing to work in close collaboration with you, or take the lead and keep you informed every step of the way.
Complex contingency fee cases typically require substantial financial resources as well as a significant investment of time by experienced attorneys. Compensation for cash outlays as well as attorney time may not be received for a year or more. At Slater & Zurz, we have the professional staff and resources to handle and finance complex and catastrophic cases from start to finish. When we take a case, we’re in it to win it.
We’ll never forget that your client is your client.
We recognize that your client is still your client. If you choose not to be actively involved in your client’s case, we’ll keep you informed as the case progresses, and will be available to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. We’ll never use the referral as a basis for soliciting your client’s future business.
While we may have expertise in a particular aspect of the law or procedure applicable to the case, access to experts with the background and credibility to establish critical elements of a claim, and familiarity with the court in which the case will be heard, we recognize that you know your client and probably have valuable insights that can contribute to the most successful outcome possible.
We offer generous co-counsel fees.
We offer generous co-counsel fees to the extent permitted by Ohio’s ethical rules. In the recent past, we’ve paid seven-figure co-counsel fees on complex tort cases that we brought to resolution prior to the commencement of trial. As soon as we’re paid, you’ll be paid.
