Jeff Hawkins has spent the last 30 years helping clients navigate one of the most emotionally challenging legal areas: family law. As an attorney at Slater & Zurz, he focuses on divorces, child custody, child and spousal support, legal separations, and grandparent rights, guiding individuals through these life-changing transitions.

To Jeff, family law is all about helping people move forward. Whether it’s a complex divorce or a contentious custody battle, he works to remove uncertainty, set realistic expectations, and find solutions that protect his clients’ futures. His goal is simple: to ensure his clients walk away with the best possible outcome, both legally and personally.

Experience

Jeff’s journey into law was inspired by his father, who dreamed of becoming an attorney but put that aside to serve in World War II. While Jeff initially pursued law to honor that dream, it quickly became his own calling.

He practiced in Findlay, Ohio, for 18 years before joining Slater & Zurz in 2006, where he became known for his deep understanding of Ohio’s domestic relations courts and his no-nonsense, results-driven approach. 

His extensive knowledge of family court procedures across Northeast Ohio gives his clients a unique advantage — he knows what to expect, how to prepare, and how to fight for what matters most.

Outside the Office

Originally from Birmingham, Michigan, Jeff has spent most of his life in Ohio, building both his career and his community here. 

Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with family, playing cards, and practicing marksmanship.
